When I laid out all of my ideas for Christmas/winter designs this calendar month, this wasn't on the list. But, when the idea striking, it just stuck! I kept trying to think of how I could make my own snowfall globe out of newspaper. It was a challenge, but 1 I knew I wanted to take on.
I decided to make a little snow bunny to get within my globe. Bunnies are one of my favorite animals, and then information technology was a natural choice! Merely, I must admit, with his ears folded downwards, he does maybe resemble a puppy more than than a rabbit (whoops). Oh well, either way, he'due south a cutie.
Supplies
- Cardstock
- Dura-Lar Film
- Hot Glue
- Bone Folder (optional)
- A Cutting Machine or Ten-ACTO knife
- Fake Snow
- My Free Template
How to Make
one. Use your cutting machine or Ten-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cutting out all of the snow earth pieces.
Note: If you are using the SVG files that includes the score lines, don't forget to set them every bit such in Cricut Design Infinite and attach them to their shapes earlier sending through your cutting machine. I used a lime green color to mark the score lines, so hopefully that helps! If you're non using the SVG file that includes score lines, y'all can use the PDF version equally a reference to know where your folds should go.
Too, Cricut does accept a "Mylar" setting that works well to cutting out the dura-lar pieces.
ii. Glue your two side pieces together to make one long strip. Fold all of the tabs, and mucilage them ane or two at a fourth dimension to one of your ring pieces.
three. Glue the dura-lar film inside your world. Glue the 2d ring piece to your side tabs. Attach the 2nd section of dura-lar picture on that side as well. (The dura-lar is flexible, so yous should be able to curve it and slip it within easily enough.)
4. Get together your snow bunny like so. (The design does include a cute little tail for his backside, past the way.)
Note: If you lot adopt, you could besides utilise my polar bears, yetis, or penguins within your snow world.
v. Adjacent, fold the pieces of your base. Glue the top section of your base to either the right or left side of the main base slice. Fill up your world with a little bit of snow.
half-dozen. For the adjacent step, attach your cute little critter to the base first. Then attach the snow globe overtop by sliding the tabs into the slits and gluing them downwardly.
Note: I had to add a few dabs of hot glue to the front and back of my bunny (where it meets the base) in order for him to stand up straight. And so, if your paper is heavy similar mine, y'all might demand to do the same.
I also added a line of hot glue "caulk" circular the border of the snow globe base of operations to ensure that no snow falls out.
vii. Glue the balance of your base together, one edge at a fourth dimension.
viii. Finally, adhere your snowflake details to the front and back of your snowfall globe for an added measure out of cuteness!
Aww, isn't that just so sweetness! And not only does this 3D snow earth look ambrosial, but it's fun to interact with besides! Considering you can actually shake the snow around, it's sure to exist a striking with the trivial ones.
In the by, I've but ever used dura-lar for stencil-making, just I'k glad I found some other apply for it. And such a cute one at that!
I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts similar this ane, encounter the FAQ section on my website. Likewise, be sure to bank check out the other crawly Christmas freebies bachelor on my blog!
